Lisa Hentrich: Hear Music
8. For the First Time
(Lisa Hentrich/Tonya Lynette Stout/Valerie Bolin)
"Another spur of the moment car ride idea. I wasn’t convinced it was a good one, but Val and Tonya liked it, so we decided to explore it and were glad we did. I think it has a Yin-and-Yang feel to it – it’s a celebration of becoming a new person paired with letting go of the person you used to be. I imagine the woman in this story sitting in her seat on the plane with that lump-in-your-throat feeling, questioning whether she has what it takes to grab the reigns of her dream after she’s had it packed away in a trunk for so many years. At the same time, she has the peace of no regrets, knowing she made the right decision in waiting all this time to raise her children first. And she gets that little sign of affirmation she needs when she reads the letter of encouragement from her daughters all grown up."
