"Instrumental" Key

After many years of '‘wishing” I could play an instrument, I’m finally on my way! Through my many years of writing and performing songs, I’ve never accompanied myself on an instrument. Though I can “feel my way” around a keyboard well enough to find the chords I hear in my head while writing, I’ve always had to depend on ‘real’ musicians to play on recordings, and to accompany me during live performances.

Wellllll this is a Scrapbook moment to mark…I’ve finally found “the key”. A friend introduced me to a little instrument called the dulcimer (Merlin), which just so happens to be shaped like…a key! It is tuned to a D chord, so there are limits to what can be done with it, but I’m so happy to be able to pick up an instrument and finally… PLAY!

This little song I wrote to welcome people to my YouTube channel is one of the first things I’ve put out there publicly. I’m learning as a go! (p.s. Hope you’ll subscribe to my YouTube channel while you’re there)! ;-)
